Resveratrol anti-aging ingredient.
Resveratrol is a substance naturally synthesized by plants in response to some external damage or because of fungal infections and parasites.
Resveratrol is present in the skin of grape (Vitis vinifera L.), however, the plant Polygonum cuspidatum is the most widely used source of resveratrol in food supplements.
In nature, the resveratrol is in the form of two isomers called trans-resveratrol and cis-resveratrol. Research has identified the trans-resveratrol as the biologically active form.
Have cardiovascular protective action, antimutagenic action and has potent antioxidant activity.
Studies have demonstrated that resveratrol activates the "longevity gene" in some species. According to a study conducted at the Harvard Medical School, activates a longevity gene in yeast and certain sources can increase their life expectancy by up to 70%. Its effects are similar to those of caloric restriction (only method scientifically proven to increase longevity) by SIR gene activation.
